when the living was easy

Here’s a feel good story about a career minor-league pitcher who has struck it rich. By helping a distant family member in the Mass Berkshires he became a billionaire.

Matador Records is re-issuing three Pavement LP’s on 180g vinyl. Don’t know what this will do to the value of my original pressings.

One of the great television shows of the late 90’s (about the early 80’s) was Freaks And Geeks. It lasted two unforgettable seasons and in ’04 a DVD box set was released in two versions, limited 8 DVD Yearbook and as a standard 6 DVD set. Of course, I purchased the higher priced version and had forgotten about it until recently.

A teammate mentioned that he had received the dvd set and thoroughly enjoyed watching it again. More ebay research revealed that the (now OOP) Yearbook version has finally gone up in value. There is nothing like ‘reliving the humiliation of high school' and he has offered the set for viewing. Make sure to revisit the main characters and check out Nick and Daniel’s album reviews.

winter continues

New, limited items from Southern Lord Records include Earth ' Hibernaculum' on clear vinyl and Orthodox 'Gran Loder' on red/blue and both limited to 1K copies. Oedipus Records has updated their site and store.

I have a couple of other great items (but not posting until they are sold out) and all my ‘insiders’ have been notified about them. Yea, right. And next you’ll tell me that three-legged cats with palsy make great pets.

Hard to believe but Lost continues to get better and you should really check out this site with Easter Eggs after each episode. No Spoilers, just screen shots.

I wish this damn Global Cooling would stop extending our winter (and give us a spring) so I can start on my summer’s to do list, which includes:
- Complete pond reconstruction
- Extend Fence and add more arborvitae.
- Level the west side grade and install pool.
- Trim Trees with new chainsaw on a stick. Preferably while climbing a ladder.
- Paint Porch & Breezeway

Nice to see this country’s new leadership avoids talking with so-called ‘conservatives’ while embracing terrorists. More information coming soon on the 911 / UAE / Clinton connections.

glass with that beer

SH Pint Glass set (Drag the River,Tim Barry,Love Me Destroyer, + Ghost Buffalo)
For a very short time (maybe only 1 week), we are selling you the Suburban Home Pint Glass set for $10.00. The price is normally $20, but the pint glasses take up a lot of room and we need to clear out the boxes before our big move. As the photo suggests, you get 4 pint glasses which includes designs by Drag the River, Tim Barry, Love Me Destroyer, and Ghost Buffalo. We only have around 30 full sets left so I expect these to go rather quickly.

tin knocker

Don’t miss out on a color vinyl repress of Death Cab For Cutie’s 'Something About Airplanes' on Sonic Boom Recordings.

One of the many rare items in Detroit circles is the Cass Records first release (or non-release) by Tin Knocker. The band has recently sprung back to life and new music will be released soon. Here is the label’s owner, Ben Blackwell introducing the band and explaining how he planted some copies in Japan.

I’ve always supported Cass Records and never knew that he made all his singles with small and large holes. More research revealed that a Jukebox would spin the record at a speed corresponding to the hole size (33 rpm vs. 45 rmp). So, the hunt is on to fill some holes in my collection.

About 2 years ago I e-mailed Ben begging him to trade or sell me a copy to complete my discography. Offering everything I could think of, but having no luck, he finally broke when I offered a complete Elephant 6 collection of 7's (ten singles in all). After giving up so much, I pleaded for more than the Tin Knocker and got a Adult/Dirtbomb’s Test Press and American Death Ray LP Test Press. He later told me the set was for his girlfriend. Either way I was very excited to get my copy of the single. It's one of the most colorful singles I have in my collection.

A year later I received (free of charge) the super-limited single-sided 7 of the Muldoon’s Christmas single for being a loyal customer. Ben rules.!!!
